Solution Details
Users may encounter a “Vmesh failed” error when attempting to run simulations in the Power Analyzer by Keysight after upgrading to Windows 11. The error appears in the simulation log files located in the simulation directory within the project folder. This issue prevents the simulation from starting and may appear without further context.
The root cause was identified as a security-related block on the required executable fem_vmesh.exe
The fem_vmesh.exe file is essential for meshing operations in Power Analyzer. If blocked by antivirus or endpoint protection tools, the simulation will fail to run.
What to Do
- Check Security Software Logs
Look for any blocked processes related tofem_vmesh.exein your antivirus or endpoint protection logs. - Whitelist
fem_vmesh.exe
Request your IT to addfem_vmesh.exeto the whitelist. - Verify Power Analyzer Functionality
After whitelisting, restart Altium Designer and rerun the Power Analyzer simulation to confirm resolution.
Additional Notes
- This issue may only appear after upgrading to Windows 11 due to changes in security policies or default configurations.
- The executable is typically located at:
C:\ProgramData\Altium\Altium Designer {<GUID>}\Extensions\VisualPowerAnalyzerByKeysight\Solver - If the file is missing, reinstall the Power Analyzer by Keysight extension via Extensions & Updates in Altium Designer.
